Michel Würthle, graphic artist, collector and owner of the Paris Bar, located at 152 Kantstrasse in Berlin.
Opened in 1950, the mythical Paris Bar is taken over in 1977 by Michel Würthle, an art lover who
brings this place to life with passion. A headquarters for the intellectuals, this bistro is a place of
freedom where the world is set to rights during entire nights : artists such as his great friends
Martin Kippenberger and Dieter Roth, A.R. Penck, Benjamin Katz, Albert Oehlen, Jonathan Meese,
Jannis Kounellis, Jörg Immendorff and Christoph Steinmeyer, who recently redid Martin
Kippenberger's famous painting of the Paris Bar ; celebrities like Dustin Hoffmann, Iggy Pop and
David Bowie; merchants like Rudolph Springer and Michael Werner; comedians, musicians and
playwrights.

Opening: 29 April, 6 - 9 p.m.
The artists will be attending.

Exhibition: 30 April 2011 - 28 May 2011

In 2007 London based artist collective Le Gun discovered a briefcase believed to have belonged to the late jazz pirate and trout tickler George Melly. Snapshots, a diary and other items in the case revealed a narrative based around a room which Le Gun attempt to reconstruct into three-dimensional reality. "The room is a collection of intrinsically linked and inseparable elements. Individual pieces of work that compliment, and validate each other, giving each other life, history and future." (Harry Malt)

Parallel to the exhibition runs:

KINO TOTAL

A film program curated by Markus Draper. On show in a private film room within the gallery. For screening dates and further information please visit www.kinototal.info

On Show at the opening: BARE BONES Video Selection
"Young directors from around world, working in all mediums, are invited to make lo-fi, lo-brow, black-and-white, DIY, short films of a minute or less. They are encouraged to self-produce these works in less than a couple days from idea to completion and keep their voices and process raw and authentic". (Bare Bones)

We are looking forward to your visit!
